Casa Bella Vista, Via Immoglie, Picinisco, Frosinone Province, Lazio Region, Central Italy
Over 400 years old, located in this outstanding rural setting on a hill-top above IMMOGLIE and enjoying stunning views - panoramic in all directions and overlooking 3 acres of olive groves, patios, water features and landscaped gardens with fig, fruit, cherry and nut trees and with scenic views across the valley and mountains beyond.
Originally dating from 1604, the farmhouse has been completely and expensively renovated and converted into 2 totally separate apartments with all modern conveniences and facilities including a sitting room extension from the ground floor apartment, with balcony enjoying truly awesome views.
Casa Bella Vista enjoys an elevated position at the top of Immoglie – a small borgata of just forty or so homes – being surrounded on all sides by the natural, rural beauty of the landscape and the solitude of the mountains in this most tranquil of settings enjoying breathtaking views and stunning sunsets.
As you would expect from its name, Casa Bella Vista has truly outstanding and inspirational views. It enjoys restful sunsets from its commanding hilltop situation with rugged mountain views to San Gennaro from a quiet breakfast patio under the shade of an old cherry tree.
Peaceful and rural, yet not isolated being just 80 minutes from Naples airport and 100 minutes from Rome Ciampino airport. Access by road is easy and there are excellent shops in nearby villages with local produce and wines, friendly locals, great choice of restaurants and low prices.
A car is essential to enjoy the area's many interesting and historic towns and villages. However, for those preferring not to drive from Rome's airports there is a fast train between central Rome's terminii station and Cassino, where a car can be hired locally (more info here). Or take advantage of our airport pick-up service to then collect your hire car locally in Cassino. This airport pick-up and drop-off is by car for a maximum of 4 persons with an English speaking local driver. Please enquire for a quotation for this additional service.
The hamlet of Immoglie is in the mountains and Casa Bella Vista is at an altitude of 590 metres (1,937 ft) in the locality and Commune of the town of Picinisco (3 kms - 2 miles away) and close to the National Park of Abruzzi, Lazio and Molise. The National Park is a huge protected area of mountains, forests and natural parkland covering some 51,000 hectares (125,000 acres or 197 square miles) of the Appenine mountain chain in this central region of Italy. The Park authorities arrange organised walks, hikes, climbing, bird and animal watching, biking, skiing and a host of other outdoor activities. Para Gliding is very popular from the mountains above San Donato with a purpose-made take-off ramp, wind socks and other helpful facilities provided.
Day excursions can be made by car or train to Naples, Capri, Sorrento, Pompeii and the Amalfi coast, or in the other direction to Rome to enjoy the sights of the Vatican, St Peter's Square, the Coliseum and the many historic attractions of 'The Eternal City' - although a visit to Rome is best by train from the station at Cassino - trains being cheaply priced, frequent, punctual and a great way to see the outstanding countryside to and from Rome.
Casserta is just a 60 minute drive (mostly motorway) towards Naples and is well worth a visit to enjoy the world's largest Palace with 1,200 rooms (built by the Kings of Naples before unification of Italy) and wander its 3 kilometres of Parks, water gardens, canal, streams, fountains, waterfalls etc. Whilst at Casserta a shopping trip to the McArthur Glen outlet is a 'must'. The buildings are based on an Arabian theme and include shops by Gucci, Valentino, Prada, Chanel, Armani, Ralph Lauren (Polo), Versace, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Guess, Boss, Calvin Klein, Nike, Timberland, Adidas and hundreds more and all offering huge savings on their usual retail prices.
Immoglie is approximately 25 minutes (31 kms, 19 miles) by car from Cassino town and the main A1 autostrada (motorway) stretching from Milan in the north down past Rome in the centre and on to Naples in the south. The area around Cassino is famous in wartime history for the WW2 Battle for Monte Cassino – the mountain, Abbey and monastery above the town. The Abbey and grounds are well worth a visit and tour, as is the Polish cemetery atop the mountain and the Allied cemetery down in Cassino town itself – both stunningly silent and emotionally moving.
To the south and west from Cassino are the Mediterranean coastal towns and beaches of Gaeta, Formia and Scauri - 38 kms (24 miles) by car - so just a 35-40 minute drive from Cassino - just over an hour in total from Casa Bella Vista. Go for a day at the beach or just a super lunch at one of the many fish restaurants along the coast. The coastal town of Spurlonga - especially the Old Town, perched high on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Mediterraneum - is a favourite with guests.
With waterparks near to Immoglie, 3 swimming pools, horse riding, children's summer camps (by the day or week) for biking, climbing, walking, bird and animal watching in the national park (suitable for all grades from 'easy' up) and local winter skiing, there are many activities on offer to guests all year round and all close to our area.
